What are NFC tags and how do they work?
NFC, Near Field Communication, tags are small integrated circuits designed to store information that can be retrieved by
NFC-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets. They are small round or square stickers about the size of a large coin. These little stickers of wireless technology also allow for the transfer of data between two NFC-enabled devices. NFC tags can have different memory capacities; you can store phone numbers or URLs (web addresses) and to add protection, NFC tags can be locked so that data cannot be changed once written. However, they can be re-encoded multiple times until they are locked, and once locked, NFC tags cannot be unlocked. To use an NFC tag, you need to tap the tag with an NFC-enabled device, or you need to get the devices close enough (perhaps an inch apart) for the device to execute your programmatic bidding.
