Product Description
Vermiculite is a member of the phyllosilicate mineral group, similar in appearance to mica. Found all over the world, vermiculite is basically a hydrated alloy mica with a remarkable ability to expand significantly to several times its original volume when heated at 850-1100°C.
Coarse vermiculite is composed of gold and silver vermiculite, carefully classified into a variety of sizes, including 0.3-1mm1.5-2.5mm0.5-1.41mm1-2mm2-4mm3-6mm4-8mm.

The exfoliation process is carried out commercially by passing coarse vermiculite through a furnace chamber in a controlled manner. The coarse vermiculite then expands at right angles to the cleavage plane, producing accordion-shaped particles many times larger than the original volume.
