Aviation Kerosene JP 54:
Jet Fuel A-1.
Jet fuel designed for use in aircraft powered by gas turbine engines. The appearance is clear to straw colored. The most commonly used fuel for commercial aviation is Jet A, and Jet A-1 is produced to standardized international specifications.
Jet fuel is a mixture of a large number of different hydrocarbons. Their size range is limited by product requirements such as freezing point or smoke point. Kerosene-type jet fuels have a carbon number distribution between approximately 8 and 16 carbon numbers (number of carbon atoms per molecule); broad-cut or naphtha-type jet fuels (including Jet B) have carbon numbers between 5 and 15 between.
Jet A-1 is the standard specification fuel used in the rest of the world. Jet A-1 has a flash point above 38 °C (100 °F) and an autoignition temperature of 210 °C (410 °F).
