Species: Shorea spp.
Density: 385 - 755 kg/m3
Natural Durability: Not durable when used in ground contact or exposed conditions. Heartwood is resistant to fungal attack, but not termite attack. However, the sapwood of the wood is susceptible to infestation by drywood termites, which may then spread to the heartwood. Almost all LRM species are resistant to mealy beetle attack
Anti-corrosion treatment: generally resistant to anti-corrosion impregnation
Color and Texture: The sapwood is lighter in color, usually gray in color, unlike the heartwood, which is light pink to light red or light brown. Rough but uniform texture, interlaced texture
