The multi-jack plane is usually the first workbench plane to touch the rough wood. This is the 5-1/2 size version, which is slightly larger and heavier than the 5 - when you need more weight to cut through challenging grains, or a wider blade width for a challenge, this is the ideal choice
Edge planed thick wood. The comfortable tote and handle are made of solid sapele. The block plane has sharp angles and finely adjustable openings - ideal for adjusting miter joints, joinery and installing doors and drawers. The frog and base are a solid one-piece casting. Both plane blades are machined from thick 1/8" steel to minimize chatter and precision ground for flatness. Fine-grain castings are comparable to many top-of-the-line aircraft. Each aircraft includes a case, socks and an inspection certificate with measurements of sole flatness and blade hardness specific to your aircraft.
