Characteristics of silicone rubber
(1) High temperature performance. The distinguishing feature of silicone rubber is its high temperature stability. It can still maintain high temperatures above 200℃. It has certain flexibility, resilience and surface hardness, and no significant change in mechanical properties. (2) Low temperature performance. The glass transition temperature of silicone rubber is generally -70~-50℃, and special formula can reach -100℃, indicating its excellent low-temperature performance. This has important implications for the aerospace industry. (3) Anti-aging. The Si-O-Si bonds in weather-resistant silicone rubber are very stable to oxygen, ozone and ultraviolet light. No additives are added and it has excellent weather resistance. (4) Electrical properties. Silicone rubber has excellent insulation properties and good arc resistance. (5) Physical and mechanical properties. The physical and mechanical properties of silicone rubber at room temperature are worse than those of general rubber, but at high temperatures of 150°C and low temperatures of -50°C, their physical and mechanical properties are better than those of general rubber. (6) Oil and chemical resistance. Ordinary silicone rubber has medium oil and solvent resistance. (7) Breathability. At room temperature, silicone rubber is 30-50 times more permeable to air, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases than natural rubber. (8) Physiological inertia. Silicone rubber is non-toxic, odorless, tasteless and does not adhere to human tissue. It has anticoagulant effects and has minimal reactivity to body tissues.
