Rum has enjoyed a high reputation in northern Germany since the 18th century when trade between Hanseatic cities and the Caribbean was active. But there is no real distilled rum yet. family owned distillation
Feigeisterei has changed this with its new product: Don R*** rum is distilled, stored and bottled in Gut Basthorst, about 30 km from Hamburg. The namesake of the premium spirits is Enno Freiherr von Ruffin, owner of Gut Basthorst.
Distillation and Storage Don R*** rum is distilled from South American molasses by master distiller Fabian Rohrwasser in wood-fired copper pots. Only the highest quality components of the distillate, the "heart" are stored in casks made from American and French oak and finished in used sherry casks. The keg size ensures a fast and intense ripening process. Amber Triple Wood Rum has an alcohol content of 43.0 % abv. Each batch of Don R*** Rum comes in a numbered and signed bottle.
